METAVENUES
Metavenues
What will the European performing arts venues of the future look like? This is the question three European partners — SPOT Groningen, the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), and Komodal — seek to address with a two-year project (2023–2025) called METAVENUES.
The project envisions European performing arts venues as an intermediary between artists and audiences across the physical, hybrid, and online spheres. It brings together 36 performing arts venue professionals, 21 artists, 4 technology experts, and 30 audience members to create useful prototypes for the European performing arts spaces of the future.
Activities include building digital skills and enhancing knowledge of technological trends within the wider cultural sector and across society. The partners will explore new performance formats using enhanced collaboration between the commercial and public sectors, reaching a wider audience and aiming for more immersive experiences.
Our application services helped the coordinator, SPOT Groningen, secure €200,000 from Creative Europe’s European Cooperation projects (small scale).
