With Brexit now behind us, it’s time to take a look at the domino effect the UK’s departure has had on the European cultural and creative industries.

The EU loves a good acronym. But more than that, it likes to pilot innovative projects for the cultural and creative sector. In 2019, we got together with our friends, Ticketing Group, AKA Agency, and Twister Research and figured out how to put the right digital technologies to work to bridge the gap between cultural producers and consumers in Europe. We called it, the ADVICE project.

Cultural advocates have lobbied hard for change in the run up to the European Parliament (EP) elections that took place over the weekend. Away from the rampant news coverage, the European Commission carries on with its plans to shape the future of cultural policy. All in all, it seems like a good time to take a quick look at EU news related to the cultural and creative sector.

Brexit. Otherwise known as the unfolding disaster British politicians are currently navigating in an effort to extricate the UK from the European Union. The cultural and creative sector (CCS) barely features in the public debate, with concern being expressed almost exclusively from within the industry.

Every year for four days in January, festival organisers, record labels, the media, music managers and plenty of others gather at the “New Year’s of the music industry” in freezing Groningen, Netherlands to do nothing but experience the best new music in Europe.
